From the time he was a young child, Gene would take apart everything in the house to figure out how it works. From small appliances to television sets, he just always liked the inner workings. As a child he once designed and built a hang glider out of an old tent and "allowed" his brother Randy to be the first one to try it out by jumping off the top of the house. Although that invention didn't work out so well for him, or his brother Randy, the fascination for designing and building never left him.

Total Home Improvements was founded in 1991 by brothers Gene and Randy Firth. Gene was a real estate agent, working for a builder/developer. Randy had recently gotten out of a business with his father. In his business, Gene had discovered that many people who were selling their homes needed repairs done before they could close.

It was refreshing to see such pride in workmanship, and the attention to detail such as sanding the handrails, placing finals on the gate post and the clean-up that followed completion of the project. We are also pleased that we have been able to refer Total to friends and business associates, many of whom have already contracted with you as well.

Sean Thompson started as a project manager for Total Home Improvements and now heads the production team as Production Manager. Beginning his construction career in Alaska, Sean is a trim carpenter by trade who has worked as a contractor for over 29 years in seven different states in commercial and both single-family and multi-family residential construction.
