After appealing a benefit amount decision online and to the national phoneline (which gentleman was courteous) and being denied, I called the Madison SSA office for further explanation of my case. The woman who answered was rude and impatient from the get-go. All that she would tell me was that I was wrong and that it was "impossible" that my benefit was calculated incorrectly by SSA. I have never encountered such bad customer service. My only option at this point is to take the case to court since no one at SSA will look at my calculation.

No need for an appointment. Be early so you won't need to fall in line outside as only few people are allowed inside. Got my SSN after a week.

If there was a minus Star I would give these guys -10. No one answers the phone, can not drop off paperwork except for one hour during the day. Just plain lousy service, but then again it's a government office. We can write ALL the reviews we want, they fall on deaf ears. The SS Adminstration, could care less about us.

It took me over a year to approved and that was with appeals, denials and an attorney thru social security advocates to go in front of a judge by phone and get told by the judge I was in fact medically disabled. I talked to Ben in November last year and requested the direct express card when he went over my income and resource part. Was scheduled to receive my back pay and then my first check as a check.

Three months go by and still no direct express card and so I called go direct and they saw I was pending to receive the direct express card and told me to call their customer service number. I did and they told me they didn't see me pending and so I tried direct deposit with them. I'm still getting checks a couple month later and I'm doing my daughters income and resource for SSI payments.

She gets her direct express card and her state is pending but not federal. I just got her federal monthly in the mail and I'm so angry. Ben told me both state and federal would be on the card for May tomorrow when I did the income and resource with him for her. It's almost impossible to get ahold of him.

Calling the SSA genuinely makes me want to kill myself. I hate having to do anything here. I have been on hold for over an hour trying to get a benefit verification letter. This shouldn't be this difficult.

This office is exemplary of why government workers get a bad name. When I called with a question, neither the person who answered the phone nor her supervisor could answer it. They took my number and said they would call me back. Never happened. When I called again, another person brushed me off and told me to go online. I'd already gone online, and this required an in-person visit. So essentially we're paying these people to be rude and to avoid doing their jobs.

After reading all the terrible reviews, I was very anxious about my telephone appointment today. Waste of time! My experience with this office was outstanding! Excellent customer service and genuinely nice people.

Called and there was a ridiculous run around regarding push 1, then push 2, etc. Finally got through like 5 of those exchanges, waiting for a person to answer, and the call was disconnected before anyone answered. Called back, and it said "phone busy, call back later". This organization should be gutted, and everyone here fired. Start over with people who actually care about their jobs.

Been trying to get ahold of someone because of a name change due to getting married in Sept 2021 and all I get is put on hold or no one picks up. Sent in my info from doing online and received it back months ago and have no update still. Open the doors to the public already and do your job already

So far, I have waited two years for them to open and start providing the service they are paid by taxpayer's money to provide. yes, two years of waiting to get a new social security card, unbelievable! still the same "covid" excuse as it was a month after the pandemic started. two years and SSA is still clinging to the pandemic as the reason to keep local offices closed. even worse, there is no place to file a complaint.
