Scherer Window & Door Consultants is a division of Scherer Bros. Lumber Company established in 1930. We lead the building industry in promoting best practices for window and door replacement and proudly serve the entire Twin Cities Metro Area. Gary began his career as a window production manager in 1994 and brings years of experience retrofitting replacement windows and employing best installation practices. He became a consultant for SWDC in 2004, and utilizes his expertise to provide the best solution for your window and door replacement needs.
It begins with a professional consultation with a knowledgeable window replacement expert. Our mission is to offer an educational buying experience with the optimal solution. Our consultants are educators, not pushy salesmen! Your consultant will thoroughly inspect your windows, help you to determine priorities for replacement, and discuss full-frame window installation versus insert window replacement. They won't push the cheapest "cookie-cutter" approach, which may not be the best solution for your home.

Scherer Window and Door just installed a new front door at our house. We were very impressed with the overall process to get this done. The installer was professional, explained what to expect and kept everything clean and tidy. He even trouble shooted a small issue and got it taken care of! Well done! I was very happy with the process from beginning to end. The sales manager was knowledgeable, helpful and quick to respond when I had questions. The installation team was friendly, prompt and professional. They were able to make a few small changes to our trim that made everything look nicer and did a great job cleaning up after the project was complete.

Replacement of 2 large windows by Scherer Window & Door Consultants was a great experience. Sales team helped me narrow down the choices that worked best for me. Windows were ordered and arrived within a week of estimated date. Scheduling for removal and replacement was right on time and all the Scherer employees that I had contact with were pleasant, helpful and professional. Would not hesitate to call them again for future projects.

We used Scherer Window & Door for our new front entry door and are extremely pleased with the process and outcome. We chose the Therma-Tru brand door; replaced the the entry door and sidelites; and, upgraded to the DuraTec (never have to paint) jambs and brickmold. Colors are pre-finished Candy Apple (door) and Alpine White (sidelites) outside, Snow on the inside.
Our salesperson, Tom A., was knowledgeable and accessible throughout the process when we had questions. When we had a small issue with the installation, the company's response was marvelous! They sent expert installer, Jason, a true craftsman and a pleasure to deal with, to remedy the situation. While Scherer is premium-priced, we found them worth the investment. Based on their professionalism, quality of product/workmanship, and communication and responsiveness by the team/company, we offer our highest recommendation and would gladly work with them again!

I had a great experience with Scherer Window and Door! The process of replacing windows was made easy by the entire team. Jim and Jason talked me through the whole process and they were very detailed with their measurements. Everything arrived on time and the project was completed on time! The install team was incredibly professional and efficient.

Scherer Window and Door was great. Tom, the consultant, was pleasant, responsive and very accommodating when I wanted to see the exact colors of the hardware finishes on the sample windows in the store. He met me at the store showroom so I could see exactly what I would be getting for windows. This is the second time that I used Scherer Windows and Door for replacment windows.
I replaced my whole house windows in two stages over 4 years. Both times I have been extremely satisfied with their professionalism, value and installation. I recommend they highly.

From start to finish our experience with Scherer Brothers was stellar. The communication was prompt and very clear. Also the technical expertise was superior. They explained the Merwin Infinity product very well and we are more than satisfied. We have done multiple remodeling over the years and would recommend Scherer Brothers as the first choice: Best in product understanding, cost, communication and installation crew.

Our home was built in 1949, and as the second owner, we have not done a lot. Windows were first up for replacement, and Scherer Bros did an outstanding job. They are all double-hung, and we wanted to preserve the period look and restore true double-hung functionality; Scherer's recommendation to go with Marvin Ultimate Signature windows was just perfect.
The installation team found some dry-rot on the north side of the house, and handled everything with grace, intentionality, and efficiency. All 10 main floor windows were replaced (full frames) with truly great work!

Scherer Brothers Window &Door Consultants 5/24/20 Earlier this year we had an opportunity to work staff from Scherer Brothers Window & Door Consultants to replace two exterior doors in the back of our Cape Cod house. After reviewing offerings from multiple companies we chose Scherer Brothers in part because of recommendations from others but also their reputation.
We were not disappointed. We found their sales and scheduling staff to be very professional, courteous and understanding of our needs. Installation of the doors in early May went very well. They were delivered on time and installed as anticipated. The fellow who did the installation did a great job. We would certainly recommend Schere Brothers Window & Door Consultants to our neighbors.
