Hello, Do you know that people use credit to go to college, open businesses, and buy homes. They have the opportunity to use credit to build a better future for themselves and their loved ones. Credit discrimination prevents people from having access to these opportunities, I am here to complain about the credit application department from National Lumber located in and the phone call I received form Michelle the representative who called me back because I requested an explanation why my application was denied, first she was very unprofessional asking if I new what my credit score is, also she said she did not see any information about my vendor list that we gave them, then she said that she would not want to call the salesperson from my vendor list because she said that they lie.

Would not recommend any new company that is trying to build a serious vendor and costumer relationship with National Lumber because they don't know how to be polite and give understanding answer to their potencial new clients. I help disrespected and also discouraged from her. Hearing her making negative comments about my credit score and not having the right information from my credit application was very upsetting. I am also going to post this review everywhere I can. Your credit department needs to learn how to treat and communicate with potencial costumers and contractors.

This company is not good for business. They delivered a sub standard cabinet instead of the high end one we ordered. Run don't walk from this company. They do not deal fairly with their customers. We ordered plywood but they delivered MDF. If we wanted MDF we won't spend a fortune on the kitchen. We also wouldn't have spent so much time waiting for it to be delivered.

We contacted them asking them to take back the item which was substantially different from what we ordered, they ignored us. Instead of sorting things out by discussing and coming to an agreement by either taking it back or discounting it substantially, they are filing all sorts of charges in the courts. We told them we won't be paying the balance but they kept trying to withdraw money from our bank.

They filed theft charges claiming we wrote bad checks which we never did. All because we won't pay the balance for their low quality cabinets. Needless to say, their criminal charges were dismissed by the court. We were ready to resolve the issue with them directly but now that we know they play dirty, we will be sure to get to the bottom of this by going the full extent of the law. We will be sure to do the right thing and not be bullied. Be warned! This company is no good.

I have reviewed you before and I am pretty sure I gave you five stars. GET A NEW KEY MAKING MACHINE. The old one makes defective keys most of the time. I give you guys five stars for everything else. I bought a kitchen from you! It was great!

Covid projects, from Water barrel stands, to a full garage overhaul and cleanup, to painting several rooms, National Lumber is and always will be my first stop. Close and convenient and the people really care, often I find myself in the aisle having conversation with the staff (George and Ernie are the best) they give me advice on all my projects and how to tackle them.

Front counter help Terri, Michele, Traci and Rita are great and always helpful and smiling when I come in. You can go to a big box store but whey? when you can get great service and talk to people who know their stuff and care!

I want to share my message with you all. I've never been a big fan of National Lumber. Mainly because of employee customer service or lack there of. But when my favorite paint store, formerly called Bables was purchased by the above fore mentioned, I'd give them another shot. At first I wasn't too impressed with the people or customer service from the front desk to the paint department.

But as of late, people like Jason over at the Oakland street store have swung the "needle" to the more favorable side. I like when I call the store and someone answers, usually Jason not like the other store across town. If Bevin or Jason are at that store, You can bet the phone will be answered but if it's the "other" guy there, no freakin way. EVER.

But I have to props when I see them, working with Jason is one of the reasons I go to that particular store now. Friendly, fast, helpful and most importantly knows his paint and gets it right the 1st time. I apologize for the long review but wanted to get my point out. One more thing, who ever manages this particular store on Oakland street, keep Jason there, it's good to see the same person over and over.you get a better feel when ur working with the same people over and over. Thank you

Had the most wonderful customer experience because of Jason. He is so personable, friendly, and most importantly knowledgeable in his field of paint selection and options. After purchasing all my paint products, he also recommended and sold me some additional tools to make my painting project much easier. Customer service seems to be lacking in most places today but Jason is a shining example of how to do it right. Thanks Jason

Have worked with National Lumber for 14 years in their Commercial Division and they are a great company. Craig Morin is very responsive from the outside sales division always estimating projects for us and working with us for pricing and timely deliverables. Strongly recommend National Lumber for any rough framing, insulation, finish carpentry, door/frame/hardware, windows and Kitchen Cabinet needs!

Usually when I come here I get good service. Traci, is a wonderful National Lumber employee. She is patient knows her stuff and has a beautiful ring which she most certainly deserves from her grateful husband. As I walked in with the look of utter confusion she shepherded me in finding the right dimensions and handles for our drawers. Thank you Traci for your excellent assistance.

Great supplier for top quality building materials. Sales staff are knowledgeable and attentive to contractor's needs. Delivery drivers are great and materials arrive with the appropriate equipment to place them where needed on the job site. Very happy with their service.

To whom it may concern, I am sending a quick note to express my extreme thanks and praise to "Jason, the paint guy" at the Oakland Street location. I have been going back and forth for a month picking out paint and asking a wide variety of questions as we tackle painting 5 rooms in our house. Jason is extremely knowledgeable and professional as well as patient.

I was very concerned about painting over a fire engine red wall in one of our bedrooms. He gave me tips on the best way to tackle the project and assured me the paint would cover the red wall with two coats. I was doubtful when I purchased the paint but as soon as the first coat was on I was a believer! As we painted the room, my daughter and I said several times, "Jason was right!" In a world where customer service is often taken for granted, I wanted to let the powers that be at National Lumber know that you have a great employee in Jason. I am looking for more rooms to paint because he made the project and process so easy. Jason deserves a raise! Thank you.

Nice commercials lousy company. It took 3 deliveries to get my one order after they forgot parts. Then wanted me to pick it up at a different store because thats where they delivered it. Then they wanted to charge me a delivery fee for something I already paid for. They when I complained they hung up on me. Very disappointed for a local store that should pride themselves on customer service. Would not recommend at all.

Today, I was in the warehouse browsing and watched a National Lumber employee deal with an extremely irate, difficult customer. Nick was the employee. The customer was frustrated with something that seemed to be nobody's fault. Nick was cutting cedar planks for him and the customer kept going at him about not being able to complete his job with what he purchased after the cuts he requested were made. Nick remained calm and polite.

He asked the customer what he could do to make him happy and obliged as best he could. I was extremely impressed but not surprised. I've been going to National Lumber for 25 years and the service is second to none. Great job Nick!

It's good for very basics if you're local, but the inventory is sparse and often they don't have what I'm looking for in stock. Staff can be nice or sometimes unhelpful, but not very knowledgeable.

I highly recommend the National Lumber Store in Newton. They had what I needed in stock, and the delivery was quick, convenient and efficient. Everyone was knowledgeable and attentive, giving me exactly what I needed. My new composite stairs look great, thanks to a lot of excellent team work!

Despite this business not being near my house (and with many options to choose from), I decided to take the time to buy the door at this place. Because I have previously purchased my kitchen cabinets there. I walked and and I waited and waited, and nobody at the door section was there, so I decided to make some copies to my home keys and picked some other tools and supplies I needed.

I was with my two kids, 6 and 8 y/o and we look around the store until we noticed the person at the doors was available; I walked to the counter, and I kindly requested the door; I provided the rough dimensions, and I mentioned I need the door to be wooden with glass. All I got is a really bad attitude, lots of yelling regarding the size of the door.

The person clearly was not happy to help me. No matter what I said, the person kept being disrespectful. Because the rough door opening at my house is not standard, he decided a custom door ITS GOING TO BE TO MUCH MONEY for me, and also IT WOULD TAKE TOO MANY WEEKS TO MAKE. Basically, he decided I should buy a bigger door and cut it, which is fine; however, after requesting the door's cost to be cut, he said (yelling) THIS DOOR IS GOING TO BE 670 SIR!

Then he closed the catalog and dismissed me. He assumed again it is too expensive and he decided it is too much money for me. I asked why can't and order? and he said he thought I'm just asking for prices. (AGAIN yelling). I said, "no, thank you, I don't want the door anymore, I don't understand why you are so rude" He requested talking to the manager; the manager then showed up and as nothing happened, just nodded his head and said, "But he just apologized to you." like it is ok being disrespected for just. Trying to do business. In the end, I did not buy the door, and only ONE of THREE of the key copies I made worked. AVOID THIS PLACE, AND IF YOU GO, BE PREPARED TO BE RACIALLY PROFILED

So I have always liked coming here and had no qualms about coming but today I won't be coming back to support during COVID. Two employees not wearing masks appropriately the noses were not covered. I bet it's not comfortable and challenging but we all need to be safe

My wife and i decided to try out national lumber to build 2 decks and remodel a bathroom. Our contractor told us to go to national where we would get the individual help we wouldn't get at lowes or home depot. Richard was very easy to deal with but told us he was overwhelmed with work at the beginning of June. We gave him the measurements and 2 days later we called him and told us how much decking we needed and everything was 3 days out.

A week goes by and we call and are told the color was discontinued. We get up and go to national again to pick a new color. Now its 2 weeks out and we pay again and wait for credit on 1 st order. Talking over $10 k in material. Part of the order is on back order. Now my wife has been handed over to kenny also very nice and responsive. We fell real short on the order and my contractor now beginning of july is getting impatient.

On july 2 nd kenny tells my wife he's issuing another credit. The 13 th know credit. my wife calls and he said he processed the credit. Now i have to order another $1000 of materials and its all on back order. My contractor has now left for 2 weeks and tells me to go to waltham lumber because National has gone down hill. 2 stars because they treated my wife nice as they dragged her thru a horrible experience

National lumber made a delivery in our neighborhood today, the boom from the truck hit our wires in the neighborhood and causing the electricity in the whole neighborhood clearing out 15+ homes and when I called and spoke to management and they said it was you know just basically an accident that they couldn't help well unfortunately when your driver is operating a boom and not paying attention to wires yeah that's not accidental that's operator error national lumber's management was not compassionate Herb the new Bedford office should not be a manager his customer service is very poor.

And I was also told and saw other damage to the property that the delivery was delivered to driver should've just parked in the road away from the wires away from the properties driveway!

Moved into my house in 2015. Three years later, the kitchen sink was hanging by the plumbing, and I had to place a brace in to prevent it from falling through. The seal failed, the clamps were rusted and loose, and its a total fail. My neighbor also had the same issue after 2 years. Both house (new construction) had kitchen done by National lumber of Mansfield.

When I called them (several times before I got a call back), they simply referred me to the sub they themselves hired for the granite and sink install, which was KB surface. I send an email to KB surface. No response. I send a message through their website. No response. I called, talked to a lady for 2 minutes and when she realized I was a customer issue, she placed me on hold for 10 minutes until I gave up.

I called right back, and she decided to deal with me in a different way. She told me that she would get back to me to schedule a repair service, which I offered to pay for. I talked to plumbers who told me they would not touch that kind of jobs because of liabilities with granite breaking, so I'm just happy to have anyone come by. Its been weeks since that phone call, so I assume they will not bother.

I really didn't get the sense that National Lumber felt responsible in any ways for the failure in my kitchen, because they did not do the work themselves. So keep in mind that when you deal with National Lumber of Mansfield, if they happen to hire a mediocre sub-contractor that wont return your call, well, that's just too bad. DL

Bad customer service, the people are rude and they make you pay still when they give you the wrong paint color you ask for.

This company is dangerous. They should not be allowed to deliver any product. If u shut a road down by blocking it, in the city of Boston u need a detail cop. However national lumber keeps breaking the laws and doesn't seem to care.

Bob the paint whisperer! Absolutely incredible - I stopped into National Lumber thinking I knew what color we wanted to paint the exterior of our house. He advised me to try an alternative and it is perfect. A big decision, big investment and his advice made all the difference. I could not have done better even if I paid a designer to separately come to my house and make a recommendation.

Once we knew the base he also advised on trim and shutter colors. Other staff in the store were all excellent - we needed to buy a number of things for our new home. I am now all in as a loyal National Lumber customer.

I dread going here and avoid it at all costs unless I have to, because the staff is incredibly unfriendly, unwelcoming, and discourteous and they act like I'm ruining their day by existing. I know this is Boston and we're not at the top of the list of friendliest cities in the country but for chrissake make an effort people. Until they learn some customer service/social skills I'll do my best to take my business to Concord Lumber, Sterritt, or even Home Depot where at least I'll get a "hello sir, what can I do for you?" And a "thanks have a nice day" at the end of the transaction. Edit: after reading some of the other reviews it seems that my complaint is a common one. I'm surprised that the business owner has apparently not cared enough to rectify the issue, because I was there twice in the past two days and nothing was good about my customer experience. Here's a tip for the owner, for your OWN good: send all your sales staff to customer service camp. They are collectively hurting your business. How can you be proud of running a business that creates dread as the customer experience?

I really don't like this place. The cashier is mean and I can't ever find anyone to help me. I have a kitchen that was installed by the kitchen department years ago and have needed to replace the hinges over the years. "NO! We don't have them!" I had to go to Lowe's for help. Since I like to shop locally, I did use the kitchen and bath department recently to get a new vanity and the woman, Diane, was very helpful. How does she stand working in such a mean place? Suggestion, give the cashier lady time off to get some help.

I called them for a quote almost 2 weeks ago. They sent me a blank quote back. I ended up emailing back a week later and the salesman that answered my email said that he hadn't heard from his buyer yet, he was going to call them that day. Well needless to say, it is going on 2 weeks and still have not heard. I guess the small business guy isn't that important to them. I ended up calling Ryan Building Products and got a quote within 10 minutes emailed to me. Guess who won't be getting my business anymore and who will.

These people are incredibly rude and disrespectful to their customers. We had some issues with some of their building materials that are under warranty. My wife called the national lumber store in Newton to explain what was going on several times to be transferred, misdirected, mocked and then they called my wife a moron while she was on the phone with them.

Very unprofessional group of losers. If you want to be disrespected, put down and have to deal with a run around, National Lumber is your store! UPDATE: Received direct contact from Margie on 9/18/17 via email. She is assisting with this issue further.

My husband and I are planning some home construction, and I called to ask a quick question about a product line they carry. It happened to be near closing time on a Saturday. Instead of the employee spending five minutes on the phone, staying a couple minutes late, and gaining a new customer, I was rudely cut off with no explanation and told to call back Monday. We will spend our remodeling dollars elsewhere with a place that appreciates our business.

I go here quite a bit because I live a mile away. They have everything you need. I'm giving them one star because the majority of the staff is incredibly rude. I get what i need but have to say a little prayer before I go in. Nobody wants to be there and the environment is quite toxic

Why people go to National Lumber is a mystery to me. The woman that work the counter are all rude and seem to not want anyone other than a contractor in the store. I had to order some azec posts and the sales person was huffy puff and rude with me. He also seemed to think because I was a woman i would be unable to install azec. Avoid this place i would rather go to a Home Depot or lowes which i also despise. The owners must be a real pleasure to work for here since everyone employee is rude.

My review is based solely on the Paint Department. I recently moved into a old home in the area and have been doing as much of the work I can on my own. I have been going to DAN for all my paint projects. The guy does it all! He matches colors like a magician. I brought in a few things for him to match, and they ALL have been spot on, which I know is extremely hard to do, and something I haven't had anyone else able to do with such great perfection. Dan has advised me on the proper ways to complete all my paint projects.

I thought I knew how to paint, but with his advise my projects have come out better than any professional that I have hired in the past and I know my work is going to last. I highly suggest asking for Dan when it comes to paint, you may need to wait because even the professionals are asking for him in particular, but it is well worth the wait. Bravo national lumber! You will always have my business because of this employee.
