Ludlows was founded in 1954 by Don Ludlow. Born in 1919, Don grew up in the Bernardsville area. In 1943, Don was drafted into the Army and with only a high school diploma and no specific skills, he was determined to learn a trade that would support his family after the war was over. He volunteered to learn refrigeration.

Just 2 blocks south of Olcott Square in the center of Bernardsville, Claremont Rd. is across from the Bernardsville train station. We are 1/4 mile up on the right side next to Ken Rent.
We offer complete heating, ventilation and air conditioning services for all residential and light commercial applications. Unico high velocity air conditioning systems (to go where no air conditioning system has gone before). We also stock a vast assortment of filters, water panels, thermostats, sheet metal, and fittings to save you the hassle of going to the "big box" stores, so feel free to stop by.

What a great experience we had today. I called this morning and a technician was at my house by 3.30 and he fixed the problem. Very courteous with my wife and very fair with their pricing. Service: Heating system repair

Came hone Sunday night to a broken condenser on the hottest night of the year. Called the Ludlow team at 8am Monday and they have their technician on site by 9am. Fantastic service. Highly recommend.

Critical: Professionalism Ludlow refused emergency services as I was a new customer. Emergency services are only for those who are existing customers. For new customers, even if there is emergency, the wait time is 2.5 weeks. This is preposterous.

Just moved into an older house that just won't get warm on colder days. I called Ludlow to come out and they came later that same day which was great. After reviewing the heating system, the tech suggested installing supplemental heat in the existing air exchanger and the office would send me an estimate. They charged me $200 payable on the spot for one hour's worth of "work".

The next day I got a call from the office letting me know my system was too old to get the parts to do this. I paid $200 for them to give me an estimate only to have them tell me their own suggestion for fixing the problem won't work.

They installed a new blower motor in my home. Two weeks after it failed due to their workmanship. They did not charge me to come and reinstall. A week later it failed again and was just told that if it is due to their workmanship, they will not warranty the work. The want a $190.00 service call and $140.00 per hour after the first 1/2 hour of labor.

They will not warranty their work. I of course expect to pay any charges on new work or parts, but if is their workmanship, why should I be charged? This comes directly from Dave Wood the owner! Bad business! Do not use!

I have been their customer for 5+ years and DO NOT RECOMMEND them anymore. Although local to me, they are pricey and service quality has varied. My A/C was not working during the hot summer days. Each day I would call for service they would say that they don't have anyone for 1-2 weeks. At one call they said if I paid OVERTIME rates during their business hours, they could send someone right away.

I even said that 2 other contractors told me that the A/C unit (12 yrs old) cannot be fixed and needs to be replaced. Finally I said can they at least come and give me a quote? They took 3 weeks to give me an appointment just for a quote. Go google and find some other contractor. Good luck!

My Lennox furnace was out one winter Sunday night last winter. Left Ludlow a message on their office phone. Ludlow dispatch called first thing on Monday morning and tech arrived by noon. Replaced the main circuit board which he had on the truck. Part was pricy but what can you do? Tech remained on scene through 2 heating cycles, checked the whole system out to make sure things were working fine.

Tom and his entire team at Ludlow were true professionals from the start of the project until completion. Tom was able to thoroughly walk me through each of the options I had for replacing the furnace in my home and went the extra mile to get answers (and a discount) directly from the manufacture for specific concerns to my home. The installation was done professionally and I am very happy with the results. I would recommend Ludlow and Tom Wood without any reservation for anyone considering heating replacement units in their home. Thanks for a job well done guys.

When I called this company for service I was never told there would be a non-refundable service fee of $149. When the technician came to my home he checked out the situation and told me about the service fee and said it would be applied toward the repair invoice when he came back to do the job. He said the office would call me the next day to schedule.

He was at my home for 15 minutes. The office never called me to schedule and after I made a couple of calls to them they finally tell me they will not be coming out to do the job. I was told that I was given wrong information by the technician, about the service fee being applied toward the repair. They wouldn't even try to work something out with me.

So I had to call a competitor, have gotten the job done but I'm out $149 to a company that couldn't be bothered! Very dissappointed that they took my money and refused to come out to make the repair!

Our service technician was Tim and he was excellent. They confirmed a time window the evening before and Tim arrived as scheduled. It was just a two hour window, not four as you might see with other companies. He took the time to educate me about our AC unit, things to watch for and how to improve the cooling in our home. They know their stuff, are very professional and reasonably priced. Love supporting local businesses. We highly recommend Ludlow Heating and Cooling.

Mike was the only service guy who was able to keep my 25 year old central unit working several years more until we replaced it. They are the best repeat service men were just as exceptional

Their team was great to work with (especially Tom) and they did a great job on our HVAC air conditioning and baseboard heating. Very knowledgeable and high quality work. Plan on using them again for future HVAC needs.

From the very first phone conversation, it was all about their time and fees. Unwilling to make accommodations after I waited for their technician for an hour and a half, their technician could not wait 10 minutes. Should have never wasted my time! Highly overrated.

I am a long time resident in the area. I had heard wonderful comments regarding Ludlow Heating and Cooling. After years of having my air conditioning system serviced by another company, I decided to use the so called "Best Heating and Cooling Co. in our area". I signed a contract with Ludlow Cooling department to take care of my cooling system and hope that their service would be as good as I was told it would be.

The first time their man serviced both my air conditioners. We did not have replacement filters to change as the previous service provider always carry them. The second time he came to service the units, I did have the filters and gave them to the service man to change them for the old filters that have been in the air conditioner system for 2 years. 3 months later, while looking for something in our basement, we found the new filter still in the box that came in hidden behind the furnace out of sight, the same for the unit in the attic.

Changing the filters is part of the service contract. We could not understand how this could have happened. I called Ludlow immediately. I spoke to the manager of the cooling department and explained the situation. He was courteous and PROMISED to take care of this problem as soon as possible. Nobody came to change the filters or contacted us. Months later, I called him again, and again, he made the same promise, but nobody called or visited us.

Our complaint was ignored and Ludlow did nothing to make things right. All Summer, we run our air conditioners with old dirty filters I would not recommend Ludlow Cooling service to anyone. I think they are are extremely uncaring, do not give a hoot about their customer and do not provide quality service.

My boiler broke down early this spring (when it was still cold) and I contacted a few firms to get me a quote for a replacement. Most of them rather arrogantly quoted me their most expensive solution and told me it was the only way to go. Ludlow, on the other hand, actually listened to me and worked out a solution that fit within my budget and addressed my needs.

The technicians were pleasant to deal with and very professional and the end result was perfect and eliminated the issues I've had with air in the radiators throughout the house. All in all, a great experience!
