Ford Lumber & Millwork Company was founded by Mr. Gordon Ford in Mobile, Alabama in 1957. Having gained experience in the lumber business while assisting Mr. A.S. Mitchell (see braggmitchellmansion.com) in the management of The Longleaf Pine Company, in 1957, Mr. Ford acquired a small single location hardware store and lumberyard known as M.W. Wright Lumber Company and changed the name to Ford Lumber Company.

I'm very grateful for these folks, they were extremely helpful. I was visiting some family and realized that I needed to replace some old stairs in front of my mother-in-law's home. I didn't have any tools with me and Ford Lumber was the only lumber yard or hardware store that would make the cuts for me. All of the employees were very courteous and polite. Also the prices were good.
