Rude! I needed some direction/help in what I needed - an inspection or pumped. New to it and sought her guidance on how to decide. The woman on the phone was rude, dismissive and argumentative. I declined their services and took my business elsewhere. I called a company in Minocqua with 5 star rating - it showed. He helped me - said they'll set it up as an inspection and if they then need to pump it they will.

Fantastic honest work. Shawn pumped our septic and educated me on the utility layout. Dustin and Greg came out to look at our drain field and found that we have 2 options so by switching to the other option saved us about 5k. Thank you to Greg and Dustin for great job done! We were in a bind with lots of people coming this week, the pros at the office scheduled us quickly and Greg and Dustin were able to remove a giant root ball blocking our holding tank! Great work! Timely service is hard to come by. I highly recommend A-1 Septic Service.

When our drain field failed we used A-1 to have our entire septic system replaced. It failed in the fall too late to have it replaced and all through the winter they were very prompt every time we had to have the tank pumped. Tom and his crew are very professional and knowledgeable and made sure we felt informed and reassured throughout the entire process of replacing our system. Thanks, Tom!

It's refreshing to find a company that communicates, follows through and follows up, explains procedures and issues and does what they say they are going to do when they are supposed to do it! Just a follow up to my post. The finished job looks great and the owner (Tom), made sure to stop by on the day of the work to check out the job. I will say what I have seen from this company is the following 1.
They communicate with customer 2. They discuss the job and possible options (the owner and his guys both did this). 3. They do what they say they are going to do when they say they are going to do it 4. They do excellent work in a very timely manner 5. Very reasonable pricing for quality work

Hired company for replacing drainfield and was given a quote not realizing that they would subcontract a lot of the work and that was not in the quote. So what we thought it was going to cost per quote was considerably more. Very poor customer service. An estimate should include all the services to be performed. Even though we have used the company for all previous service we will no longer do that. Would not recommend.

We recently contracted A-1 to put in a complete new septic system on our property near Rhinelander. They offered a fair proposal when compared to others. We knew they had a great reputation from neighbors that had used them in the recent past. I was impressed with their expertise and professionalism. They thoroughly explained the process and what we could expect from them and from the system.
They honored their appointment and the work was done in the time frame promised. Tom and his crew which included James, Bruce, and Dustin did a terrific job during some very hot weather. Everything is flowing along well now. I highly recommend A-1 Septic.

Please do not use A1 septic. I called to schedule an inspection on a Friday in September and was told they would probably come at end of next week or the following week and would call me to confirm the day. Buying the house fell through so I called Monday at 11 to cancel the inspection and was told by the receptionist that it was fine because the owner hadn't give her a date that it would be performed anyway.
Didn't give it another thought until weeks later when I get a bill for over $500 for an inspection I had no idea was even performed. I spent the next several months calling the company at least 10 times to explain the situation, that the inspection was cancelled and never confirmed in the first place just to be continually told by the receptionist that messages were left for the owner to get back to me.
The owner never called back and every time I called I got a different excuse as to why none of my calls/messages have been returned. My husband even physically went to the office due to being unable to reach him by phone and was told he just missed him and another message would be left. Still never heard from owner. Receptionist told us the inspection was paid in full by another person who ended up buying the home and needed an inspection so they were trying to charge us both for the same inspection.
I finally hear back from owners spouse in January threatening to send bill to collections. Even after I explained the situation she refused to be reasonable and continued to threaten to send to collections. When brought up that inspection was already paid for by someone else just continued to say "I don't know anything about that". Please save yourself time and money and do not use this company!

We called A-1 in mid-May to schedule a septic inspection and were told they would put us on the list for May or June and would call when they had several in our area to do. Fine, but when we had no further response from them, I called back on June 24 to make sure we were still on the list. She assured me that they would get to us. Still no word for a couple weeks, so my husband called again on July 9 and he was told that they would call us the week of July 20 to do our inspection.
We were getting nervous because we had to have our postcard returned to Oneida County by July 31. At the end of the week that they assured us they would come, we still had not heard a peep from them so that was the last straw. At 4:30 pm Friday, July 24, I called another septic contractor who was incredibly NICE and very understanding of the bind we were in after waiting for OVER 2 MONTHS for A-1 to come out and do a simple inspection.
He was at our place in 2 business days, performed the inspection, and made sure all of our questions were answered since we have only been in the area for about 2 years and have never had a septic system until now. I would NEVER recommend A-1 to anyone, after the needless run-around we got from them. After making an appointment with the other septic service, I called A-1 and left a message to remove us from their list. THEN she decided to call us back, with the excuse that one of their trucks had broken down that week and they simply got behind and couldn't keep up. Gee, I'm sorry that 2 1/2 months wasn't enough time for them to do an inspection. Needless to say, they had absolutely no consideration for us as their potential new customers and now I hope I can prevent many new potential customers from going through the same ordeal that we did. Bottom line: Find a different company!
